Aisha R. was selected to participate in Help4Hope for the People, Inc.’s Transitional Housing Program in July 2019. The program had many applicants during the Summer 2019 selection cycle, yet Aisha stood out to the Board of Directors after an extensive interview process. Aisha presented herself as a sincere, genuine, hardworking and dedicated single mother that had the desire to improve her life situation for the benefit of her family, and she has lived up to that early assessment of her.

Aisha is especially dedicated and passionate about children (both her own and others). Aisha has dedicated her life to ensuring her children and the children entrusted to her care at Sheltering Arms Learning Centers (where she has worked for 14 years!) have a stable and nurturing environment in which they can develop and thrive.

Fiercely independent (an attribute that reminds us so much of the great T. Jewel Turner!), Aisha is thriving in the Transitional Housing Program and we expect a successful transition out of the program into her own home in the near future!

It is with great honor that we nominate her for the 2020 T. Jewell Turner Scholarship Award! This annual award is given to single parents in recognition of outstanding sacrifice, commitment to family and inspiring perseverance and strength. As a recipient of this scholarship, Aisha will receive a $500.00 award.
